Black Ops 6 DLC Unites Past Call of Duty Zombies Storylines

-

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has just launched two new Zombies maps, and next month a fresh update called Citadelle des Morts will be released, adding more excitement to Season 1.

Before diving into the details, here’s a bit of background: this new map is crucial because it brings together various stories from Treyarch’s Zombies universe, which were previously separate. Long-time fans might remember the Terminus map where many characters and plot points were introduced, especially if you’ve played Black Ops 4 or Vanguard Zombies.

Warning: Spoilers ahead! In the final scenes of the Terminus storyline, we learn that Edward Richtofen is on a quest for Prima Materia and the Sentinel Artifacts, which are central to the Chaos storyline from Treyarch. Back in 2018, Black Ops 4 introduced new characters who were chasing these powerful artifacts, made from a mysterious Earth-mined substance. This storyline was separate from the original Aether narrative involving Richtofen and his crew.

Prima Materia is known for its immense power, but it also led to the downfall of entire civilizations. Richtofen’s interest in this power isn’t surprising, but it could spell disaster if he manages to get a Sentinel Artifact. It’s also suggested that these artifacts might hold the key to resurrecting Samantha Maxis from the Dark Aether, after she sacrificed herself to seal the breach in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

Interestingly, Richtofen has enlisted a French syndicate, led by Franco Moreau, to find a Sentinel Artifact. Sergei Ravenov, working for this syndicate, has captured Gabriel Krafft to extract knowledge about the artifacts. The cutscene is a bit puzzling because Ravenov was last seen assisting the Terminus team in Black Ops Cold War, and Krafft was a demonologist in Vanguard Zombies, studying these very artifacts. It’s curious how Krafft, who was alive during WWII, is still around in 1991.

in their trailer, calling him “the man who should not be alive.” Perhaps he found a way to extend his life using the relics.

Fans often wonder how these intricate plots come together so seamlessly. As the story unfolds, we find the Terminus crew heading to a European castle to rescue Krafft from the syndicate, aiming to find the Sentinel Artifact before Richtofen does. Their mission is not just to stop him but also to use the artifact’s power to bring back Samantha Maxis.

The first cinematic trailer for Citadelle des Morts is now out, showing the Terminus team escaping a prison island and teaming up with Sergei Ravenov once again. They try to persuade him to turn against the syndicate by explaining Krafft’s potential knowledge about reviving Samantha.

As the release date approaches, more information about the storyline and map features will surface. Besides Citadelle des Morts, the update will introduce Perk-a-Cola, a new field upgrade, a fresh ammo mod, and more Augments to unlock. The main story quest of the map will launch alongside these updates.
