Concept Art Reveals Borderlands 4’s New Planet

-

Gearbox recently gave more details about Borderlands 4 during their Main Theatre Show at PAX West, following its announcement at Gamescom in August.

Fans are excited as they got a sneak peek into the game’s environments through concept art, hinting at the places we might explore in this new sequel. The story picks up right after Borderlands 3 and introduces a new planet with fresh vault hunters. The artwork showcased futuristic cityscapes, mysterious interiors, and structures perched on cliffs.

During the panel, the team mainly discussed their artistic approach to the Borderlands universe rather than delving into specifics about the new locations. Art director Adam May described the aesthetic as “high tech but lo-fi,” which opens up intriguing possibilities for technology, weapons, and characters in the game. “We can’t say much,” he admitted, showing another piece of art, but hinted that the game would explore new territories for the franchise. “We’re doing a lot of digital projections,” he added, pointing to the advanced tech elements.

We think this sounds very cool!

May continued, “We want to see something new too. We don’t want to just keep rehashing the same world over and over again. We really get to play with some more color and more tech in this world than we have in any other.”

Another exciting reveal was about the new antagonist. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford said players would face someone “far more dangerous” than Handsome Jack.

Borderlands 4 is set to launch in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
