In 2025, a new adventure called Rogue Core will be available in early access, offering a fresh take on Deep Rock Galactic.
Set on the familiar planet Hoxxes IV, Rogue Core invites players to explore as a group of four, just like before. You’re still dwarves, but now you’re Reclaimers, not miners, and your mission is to uncover secrets buried deep near the planet’s core. Instead of mining, you’re searching through deserted mines for valuable Expenite.
Expenite is super rare, hiding close to the planet’s core. Unlike before, you won’t start your journey fully ready. You’ll need Expenite to power up your gear. When playing with buddies, everyone chooses from the same upgrades, but once someone picks an item, it’s gone for others. So, teamwork is key! You can also find cool stuff in special rooms or by tackling tough challenges. There are five classes planned, with two revealed: the Slicer, who loves swords, and the Falconeer, who commands drones. Plus, you’ll have a spaceship hub called RV-09 Ramrod where you can track progress.
The world in Rogue Core is thrilling, with deep-sea floors, old mines filled with equipment, and the harsh rocks of the core. As you dive deeper, things get more dangerous. Expect to meet both familiar and new enemies, including some big boss fights!
Fans really love how this game is shaping up, and it’s exciting to see what’s next.
In a blog post on Steam, it was shared that Rogue Core began as a simple addition to the original game but evolved into its own unique experience. Ghost Ship Games, the developer, wants to launch it in early access, something not possible as just an add-on. It’s currently in the pre-alpha phase, aiming for release in 2025.
