Epic Games is planning a big shift in how players move forward in Fortnite’s different modes.
Soon, players will earn XP to advance through all their passes at once, leaving behind Festival points and Lego studs. The new “Music pass” replaces the Festival pass on November 2, while the Lego Pass joins this update on December 1 when Chapter 6 starts. The passes are getting a makeover too. Instead of sticking to the old 11-tier system with free and paid options, the new ones will have a single track for both. This change will make things simpler, just like the battle pass, which will no longer use battle star currency.
Isn’t it interesting how things keep changing in Fortnite?
Passes for battle, Lego, and Music will look alike, though the latter two might remain shorter. Starting in Chapter 6, players can’t buy levels anymore. Instead, they can directly purchase specific items after buying the pass. This means one could snag that tier 100 skin at the season’s end without spending over $100 on the whole pass. However, once a season ends, you can’t buy or progress the passes anymore.
While these changes might make life easier by not requiring Festival play to complete a pass, the passive XP from Festival and Lego modes will likely be reduced or removed. Quests will now give XP instead of special currency, making passive XP unnecessary. Many used these modes to level up while AFK, so maybe this tweak aims to stop that.
Passive XP was pretty handy, but with the new setup, leveling up might become slower. We’ll have to wait and see if this turns out to be a good thing or not.
