Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Co-Director Seeks Multi-Platform Release

-

In the past few years, Final Fantasy games have started appearing on more than just PlayStation.

Final Fantasy 15 made its way to Xbox and PC, and by September, Final Fantasy 16 joined the PC family. However, Xbox fans are still waiting for Final Fantasy Remake and Rebirth, which Naoki Hamaguchi, a co-director, really wants to change. He told GamesRadar that he dreams of sharing these games with as many people as possible and believes the gaming world should aim for more platforms. Being an Xbox fan himself, Hamaguchi is eager to see this happen.

While Hamaguchi doesn’t have the power to make these decisions, he shared, “In terms of Final Fantasy 7, there’s nothing really we can say at the moment, but certainly I do want to bring Final Fantasy 7 and the Remake series to as many players out there as possible.” He hopes for a future where everyone can enjoy these games, hinting at a more inclusive gaming environment.

It’s refreshing when more players can join in the fun!

Square-Enix seems keen on expanding multiplatform access. This summer, they released Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox after it had been available on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC for over a year. Hamaguchi mentioned that this shift isn’t just about Final Fantasy 7. The gaming world has changed, offering more places for gamers to play. That’s likely why CEO Mr. Takashi Kiryu is steering the company towards more multiplatform releases.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is even up for several awards at The Game Awards 2024, with a nod for Game of the Year.
