This year, a young Borderlands fan named Caleb McAlpine, facing stage-4 cancer, had a big dream.
Caleb, knowing his time might be limited, asked Gearbox if he could play Borderlands 4 before it was officially out. To his surprise, Gearbox made it happen! They flew him first class to Frisco, Texas, with a friend, where he met the team and even Randy Pitchford. On Reddit, Caleb shared his excitement: “We got to play what they have for Borderlands 4 so far, and it was amazing. I don’t know if I will be around when the game comes out, but I just want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love and support and for helping in making this happen. It truly was an amazing experience and it was just awesome.”
Borderlands 4 was revealed to the world at Gamescom’s opening night in August. The game promises a new planet and a character who might just be scarier than Handsome Jack.
Fans feel a deep connection to stories like Caleb’s, reminding us of the power of kindness.
While we’re excited, details about Borderlands 4 are still scarce. It’s set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025, but no exact date is known. Also, Take-Two Interactive, the company behind Gearbox, plans to release it at a different time than Grand Theft Auto 6. So, for now, we wait in anticipation!
